  • Seafront Promenade and Beach

Zarautz Beach is the longest in Gipuzkoa, stretching 2,500 meters with fine golden sand and an open space that serves as a year-round terrace. It is the heart of local leisure and sports, where people enjoy football, surfing, yoga, swimming, and walking regardless of the weather. The seafront promenade alongside it is decorated with sculptures and children’s playgrounds, and it connects to a pedestrian path that reaches Getaria. The beach is a vibrant, essential place for the people of Zarautz, perfect for both sports and socializing in every season.
  • Txakoli Winery Visits: Guided Tours

To make a great wine, the best grapes are essential, and in our region one of the finest white wines is produced: Getaria Txakoli. This designation of origin, also present in Zarautz with its vineyards and wineries, is distinguished by a wine with a unique personality, flavor, and character. Explore the guided tours offered by each winery to discover this wonderful wine.
  • Iñurritza Biotope: Guided Tours

The estuary, or “channel,” in Zarautz is the mouth of the Iñurritza River, where fresh and salt water mix to create a rich ecosystem with a wide variety of fauna such as gulls, sandpipers, and snails. The dune area, the largest in Gipuzkoa at 17 hectares, is home to adapted wildlife and vegetation, where visitors can observe birds, reptiles, and small insects, with a strong recommendation to respect the natural environment. The Iñurritza marsh is a special ecosystem with plants adapted to the alternation of salt and fresh water, playing a vital role in the biological cycle of the area and its fauna. This protected natural space is a unique mosaic of coastal habitats with great ecological value. For information on guided routes, advance registration is required by calling (943)830990 or emailing turismoa@zarautz.es.
  • Surf lessons

Zarautz is a landmark destination for surfing, boasting the longest beach in Gipuzkoa and world-famous waves that attract surfers from across the globe year-round. Surfing, present here since the 1960s, is a true way of life in the town, with a vibrant atmosphere and schools for all levels. While learning can be challenging, Zarautz offers ideal conditions to try a few lessons and experience the power of the sea in a welcoming setting with excellent services.
  • Zarautz, a Base to Explore Gipuzkoa

Zarautz is an ideal base for exploring Gipuzkoa thanks to its strategic coastal location and excellent connections with the rest of the province. From Zarautz, visitors can easily reach natural landscapes (such as Pagoeta Natural Park, coastal trails, and txakoli vineyards) as well as emblematic towns (Getaria, Zumaia), all perfect for day trips and activities like surfing, hiking, food routes, and cultural visits. It also provides quick access to the main capitals: Bilbao (1 hour by direct bus) and Donostia-San Sebastián (25 minutes by train). In addition, the town offers all necessary services and a lively local atmosphere, making any stay comfortable and authentic for those who want to discover Gipuzkoa in a relaxed and varied way.
  • Pagoeta Natural Park

Near Zarautz, Pagoeta Natural Park offers a mixed landscape of countryside and traditional farmhouses, with Mount Pagoeta rising at its center above the rural areas of Aia and Laurgain. This protected space combines nature with human presence and features the Iturraran Parketxe, an interpretation center set in a 15th-century farmhouse that includes a nature school, an ethnographic exhibition, and a botanical garden. Highlights include the Agorregi forge, ancient ice houses, and prehistoric remains such as dolmens, burial mounds, and caves with archaeological sites. The park shelters native livestock breeds like the Betizu cow and the Pottoka horse, and its northern slopes are covered with woodland, featuring diverse replanted species since 1956, with yew trees standing out in the understory. Pagoeta is a place where history, culture, and nature come together to offer a unique experience.
